Christian + Sydney

Flagstaff Whimsical Wedding Day

This one was for the books!! Looking out over Rodgers Lake on a warm August afternoon, Christian + Sydney got married under the pine trees and with their best friends. This cabin is where Sydney grew up as a child with her sisters running in the forest and fields. It was so special for her to get married at the very place that formed her wild spirit.

They met in California at school. They are both down to earth, kind, genuine kind of people. But I also need to add FUN!!! Oh the joy of young love and exuberant personalities! This backyard Flagstaff wedding was a dream. From their sweet kisses to that sunset to the BEST wedding dance party I’ve been too. It was one of those!!!

Becca + Sean Michael // Hudson, ohio

Happy Summer Midwest Wedding

Becca and Sean Michael are some of the happiest kind people I know. They invite everyone in with their warmth and friendship instantly!! Although they live in Houston, Texas they wanted to get married at Becca’s fathers church in Ohio. It was a dream of hers as a child to get married by her father in the church she grew up. With elegance and florals – her father walked her down the aisle to Sean Michael tearing up. The bride and groom have this strong connection that I could feel just by watching their interactions.

It was a HOT July afternoon wedding, so much so that all the groomsmen ended up having to chill out in the freezer at the church! Even though, we all melted, you can’t tell in the photographs one bit! You can only see laughter, joy, and lots of romance!! HOT DANG, just wait till you see him look at her.

The reception was in downtown Hudson at a beautiful venue right by the river. With big windows and bright summer evening light – the whole reception was perfect. They brought in fire truck pizza that was amazing and so yummy! All their Houston family and friend traveled up to Ohio to meet and commune with the Ohio family. It was one big community dinner feel with lots of love and smiles.

Helpful Tips: wedding day details

Beautiful Wedding Day Detail Shots

I’m sure you see all the beautiful detail shots on instagram, from your friends wedding or on Pinterest. Well that is not just up to the photographer to create, we need your help! Here are a few tips to remember as a bride.

1.ORGANIZED: Have a box set aside filled with all the details for me to grab while you are getting ready. This would include rings, your perfume, a few EXTRA sets of invitations or any other papery with envelopes, shoes, jewelry. Have your maid of honor gather all the things you need after or before rehearsal dinner and set the box in an easy spot to remember.

2. RINGS: Remember BOTH sets of rings need to be at getting ready location!! Sometimes the best man will have the grooms ring and I am not able to photograph all the detail shots when the given time is. So triple check to be sure your engagement ring, wedding band, and his ring is ready to go together in the morning.

3.SENTIMENTAL ITEMS: Whether your special items are from grandma or mom, they create a beautiful memorable setting for details. If this is jewelry, a handkerchief, or a special item passed to all the women in the family- these little pieces help the imagery make it special to your wedding day to remember.

4. FLOWERS: Asking the florist for loose flowers when she drops off the bouquets!! For lay flat images, loose flowers really help pull in all the wedding colors throughout the day. I’m not in direct communicate with the florist often, until during or after the wedding, so if you could make a note to ask her for some extra (1-5 flowers) and extra foliage left over from your florals it would add to the details.

5. TIME: Add time in for these shots in your timeline. I usually spend 1 hour on wedding detail shots the morning of. For most photographers these detail shots happen during getting ready shots in the morning. The rest of the day is CRAZY- so this is the best time. They are beautiful images to create but take time because most items are so small and must be placed correctly.

EXTRAS: Here are extra little things on etsy that help a wedding details page I’ve seen brides include in their details box that helps me:

Morgan + Andrew // Rockport,MA

Morgan + Andrew

Rockport, MA // August 5th 2018

Oh the sweetness of being loved. On a warm humid August Sunday morning, I found my dear friend Morgan getting ready in a church for her wedding that day. Her and her girls were laughing and all humming around the room. There was this excitement in the air. Morgan and Andrew didn’t want to do a first look. They are traditional in that way and I respect that about them. WOW was it worth the wait. If you scroll down you can see Andrew’s face when Morgan walked through the white church doors. Priceless. It’s in these moments we find the meaning of life. When everyone is silence, present, and partaking in the beauty of a union.

Rockport, Massachusetts is BEAUTIFUL. North of Boston on the coast, Rockport sits looking over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s everything you think a New England coastal town would look like. Tight houses all lining the roads with white cottage style architecture homes and ocean views. I can’t express how much I want a home there but sadly I live very far away. Morgan and Andrew met at a friends wedding a few years earlier. He was instantly smitten. He had his eye on the price from that moment and did everything he could to convince her of his love. And it worked! Their families and friends were a lively bunch breaking out in song at random parts of the day to their wild dancing. I believe the couples energy makes a wedding but ALSO their guests do. And let’s just say I’ve never sweated so much during a dance party! Possibly due to the humidity but mostly due to the intensity of dancing!!

Their love is sweet. It’s goofy. It’s honest and true.

Taylor + Bart // Summer Ohio Love

Bart + Taylor

Findlay, Ohio // May 2018

Bart loves her smile, her personality, her humor. He was drawn into her presence because it was easy and care free years ago at college. He is a football coach, she is a marketing specialist. She is funny and kind and easy going. He is smart and genuine and a mans man.  Which is why Taylor surprised him with a football and beer on their engagement session!!

I went to High School with Taylor years ago. She has the same beautifulllll long hair and dazzling white smile. She knew her guy too well she couldn’t bring wine to the session…beer was the only way. They danced and laughed A LOT and watched the ohio sunset on the dock. Their wedding is next July in Ohio!!
