While the aspen leaves were in full splendor and the mountain stood tall, Shelby and Gabriel united as one in nature. After meeting in high school, dating through college, it was time to get married! They both attended NAU for college and fell in love with Flagstaff’s organic living. Time is slower, people are friendlier, and the trees are bigger.
Flagstaff has a wonderful venue up at the mountain in the ski lodge. Half the year skiers from all over the state come to play in the white powered snow on Humphrey’s peaks while the other half of the year people hike up it in the hot summer sun. The wedding venue over looks the valley of rolling hills and mountains Arizona has. Shelby wanted the autumn leaves so bad she was willing to hike into the perfect spot for them! Thankfully she is so down to earth and easy going that this was no issue for her. Her and Gabriel spun in the fields with the yellow trees glowing.
Shelby is compassionate, sweet, and a little wild!
Gabriel is mysterious, kind hearted, and loving.
Together they create this beautiful friendship where love flourishes.
On the perfect September day, Kelsey and Richard got married at Fox Boro Ranch outside of Munds park. Their wedding day was full of laughter, two beautiful dresses, and lots of dancing!! Arizona raised, they love the mountain forest feel and decided Munds Park/Flagstaff area was the perfect place for their wedding. Lake with willow trees and pine trees standing tall set the scene for this memorable day.
Yes, they had a whiskey bar, a party dress, and amazing wedding cake!! Yes, they are so in love and you can feel it. Yes, he cried when she walked down the isle.

AHHH there are not many words to describe the beauty that was created through Taryn and Ryan during our engagement session. Their chemistry is electrifying. From the wind, to the sun, to the cozy coffee snuggles they shared while watching the sunset at the overlook on 89A…it was all too much!!! These two are contagiously joyful to be around. I cannot wait to photograph their beautiful backyard Flagstaff wedding next year in October!
Coreen + Nigel Grey GOT MARRIED in the beautiful town of Flagstaff, Arizona where they live and work. It was a full local kind of wedding from the flowers, to food, to beer. They are all about keeping things local.
Thunder rolls and rolls and rolls as Coreen gets her hair and make up done early in the morning. But yet not an ounce of anxiety about the potential thunderstorm shows on her face. It’s as if her eyes are locked in and ignores the hustle and bustle all around. Her friends, who traveled across the country from seven different states, are buzzing around her with excitement. And the thunder rolls.
Flagstaff is graciously given beautiful, large, loud thunderstorms every single day of summer due to the monsoons. The ground is happy after a couple months of terrible wildfires that spring up due to the dry, hot, heat of the desert. They are a beautiful site to see, full of power and might, they storm in only to leave after a few short hours. Although, sometimes they stay all day. Coreen and Nigel’s wedding day was one of those days!
In all my years of photographing weddings, never have I seen such a beautiful wedding day caused by the sky and clouds. They gave the perfect light covering to photograph the bridesmaids colorful dresses and flowers made by Whipstone Farms.
To share the space between Coreen and Nigel is one that is full of deep respect and friendship for one another. All day I could tell their presence brought peace and laughter in this easy way without much effort. During their first look, the thunder roared and the rain came down so hard we had to find shelter for a little while the thick of the storm passed. But that didn’t phase these two, who have hiked miles and miles of the PCT together. A little rain never hurt anyone was jokingly came out of Nigel’s mouth. Inside the shelter of a greenhouse, they enjoyed each others embrace and was present listening to the rain come down over a tin roof. It’s those kinds of moments on a wedding day that I hope couples look back on. Where everything wasn’t going to “plan” but their hearts were at ease knowing this was the day they’ve been dreaming about since they met.
Thankfully, right as Coreen walked down the isle, the rain came to a stop. They shared their vows together, literally passing the mic back and forth sharing vows they wrote together. I might have gotten a little teary eyed realizing the beauty we were all taking part in together. Their ceremony was not the usual ceremony. They had their guest, who had traveled long and far to be there, get up from their seats to meet other people at the wedding. Then twenty minutes into the reception the rain started again, only clearing up for a sunset break, to downpour the rest of the night. For HOURS their friends and family danced and danced all the while the thunder rolled.

They met in Flagstaff during nursing school together. Here in this sleepy slow mountain living town they fell in love as friends and then as partners. Soon after graduation they moved up to Portland, OR where Jordan is originally from. They both had a desire to get married in the town they met.
I individually met each one of their guests. It was a small wedding with an intimate gathering feeling. Outside in the backyard of a friends house they vowed to always be each others firsts and only. They danced and then moved the celebration to downtown Flagstaff at a local pub. Each person they talked to, gave their undivided attention to, and laughed with. It’s a beautiful thing to have a small gathering of your favorite people all in one room together.
While you read this and look through the photographs I want you to have a Disney princess song playing gently in your head. All will make sense 🙂
I had the honor of photographing my beautiful friends wedding at a new located Viola’s Flower Garden. I get so excited when more and more venues pop up all over Flagstaff for weddings. This one is a gem!!! No need for decorations, the flowers say it all. Rachael, sweet woman she is, got ready there at the gardens all the while listening to a Disney soundtrack. You won’t find a woman more like Cinderella anywhere! Bubbly, kind, and giggly- Rachael is our Cinderella. This wedding was very magical. I felt like at any moment I could see little birds tweeting here and there trying to help get our Cinderella ready for her big day. That it was, a big day filled with sugar, laughter, and dancing. I have NEVER photographed a man more enthusiastic as his bride walked down the isle. I was taken away by the emotion of it all. Rachael and Austin’s love feels like it is out of a fairytale!! The way he gazes at her, dances with her, and kisses her hand gently feels like prince charming. With their closest family and friends, the two became one amidst the flowers and birds.
