Adventure to Merry Go Round

Sedona, Arizona’s top engagement session location

THIS spot…it’s one of my favorites in not only Arizona but Sedona specifically, but it’s not an easy place to get to. Many many photographers dream about shooting here but you have to have the right off roading vehicle to get up. For example: a Rubicon Jeep, truck with high suspension, or a Forerunner with big ass wheels!! Rental car companies won’t let you take their cars out there because the road is so bad that many get stuck or end up with a flat tire. I highly highly suggest going with a company like Pink Jeep Tours or Red Rock Rubicon. These vehicles are made to go on roads like this!

I’m so happy Anna and Selam wanted to go dance in the sun and explore the cliffs of the Red Rocks when they were visiting Arizona. I grew up with Anna in Ohio and was SO excited for when she told me they wanted to fly out for their engagement session. Now this is my fifth friend to come out to Arizona from the midwest for their photos. And I think it gives them a good excuse for a vacation and I get to see my people, so I’m not mad about it!!

Ditch the Big Wedding and Go Elope

Sedona, Arizona Elopement in the red rocks

Big weddings are an amazing experience for family and friends but if you are wanting to a smaller gathering of only immediate family or just you two, go for an elopement!! These are getting more and more popular as the years go on, especially with COVID shutting down big weddings in 2020. I had SO many fun small elopements in Sedona, Grand Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend this year that really made my couples happy by going small rather than a big wedding.

Here are some benefits on having a small intimate elopement instead of a big wedding:

  • Save so much money!!! Weddings are expensive but when you cut the guest list rom 200 to 2-10 it really really helps you save money for a house or a fun honeymoon.
  • Spend more money on a dress you are in love with!!
  • Hike to a hidden remote location that is beautiful and memorable
  • Have the best food because it’s only going to be a few plates rather than 200. Go all out! Get steak and shrimp!
  • Less stress more fun!!!!

Cara + Mark was suppose to have a destination wedding in Mexico but due to covid they decided to just get eloped!! With the dress she was going to be on the beach with for rehearsal dinner they eloped in the red rocks!! It was the perfect little ceremony with just family in a beautiful location. It was exactly what they wanted.

Payal + Kathan // Sedona, Az

Pre wedding photographs for this couple getting married in DC. Their family and friends have never been out to Sedona. So they thought why not bring a part of Arizona to their wedding day. These photographs are to be shown on a big screen during cocktail hour for their guests to take in the beauty of Sedona. Payal + Kathan are contagiously positive, fun, and have this deep friendship. We had so much fun dancing around the red rocks!

Kelsie + Alex // Sedona,AZ

Winter Red Rock Engagement Session

Kelsie and Alex met and fell in love in New Mexico. With their hearts full and connection strong they moved out to Phoenix, Arizona away from their families. Together they have created a life built on deep friendship and trust. We were able to dance around Bell Rock for their engagement session. It was probably the COLDEST Sedona session I’ve ever done…. but we pushed through and created some beautiful images! Cannot wait for their wedding in Flagstaff in October!

Abby + Brian

Sedona Creekside Orchard Canyon Wedding

I cannot RAVE more about this power couple! Abby and Brian met in Flagstaff where they currently live and own a gym together. She is fierce and he is gentle. They are this perfect match of fiery and sweet. Intelligent and sweet. Their wedding was nothing but intentional. Their sweet apple orchard canyon ceremony was filled with kind words and so much laughter. And the reception was nothing but a celebration. Their love is strong and friendship is stronger.

Nicole + Justin // Sedona, AZ

Oh the beauty of Sedona and this couple took my breath away. The day started with hovering thunderstorms and soft winds. Nicole and Justin wanted to get married up in Sedona because of the beauty. They have been together for years and years and have two twin four year olds that are the cutest things in the world. This day was all about family and the love between these two.

The Red Agave venue is perfect for small weddings because everyone can rent out a cabin to stay right on site!! The ceremony and reception is all on the same property with a gorgeous red rock landscape right behind. Justin and Nicole are kind, gentle, funny kind of people. I want to be around them all the time if I could! Justin is a chef and Nicole is a nurse. They wanted their day to be revolved around family, beauty, and good food of course!!

Moments right before the ceremony the lighting struck and let out a big rain storm for 10 minutes! When all was done the wedding day went on without an issue. I always believed the rain is a lucky thing on a wedding day. The heavens are clapping along with everyone else in those moments. The burrito truck was probably their best idea at the wedding!! What a fun idea. They danced the night away with the most lovely speeches given by family members and close friends. It even got me in tears.
