Beautiful Wedding Day Detail Shots
I’m sure you see all the beautiful detail shots on instagram, from your friends wedding or on Pinterest. Well that is not just up to the photographer to create, we need your help! Here are a few tips to remember as a bride.
1.ORGANIZED: Have a box set aside filled with all the details for me to grab while you are getting ready. This would include rings, your perfume, a few EXTRA sets of invitations or any other papery with envelopes, shoes, jewelry. Have your maid of honor gather all the things you need after or before rehearsal dinner and set the box in an easy spot to remember.
2. RINGS: Remember BOTH sets of rings need to be at getting ready location!! Sometimes the best man will have the grooms ring and I am not able to photograph all the detail shots when the given time is. So triple check to be sure your engagement ring, wedding band, and his ring is ready to go together in the morning.
3.SENTIMENTAL ITEMS: Whether your special items are from grandma or mom, they create a beautiful memorable setting for details. If this is jewelry, a handkerchief, or a special item passed to all the women in the family- these little pieces help the imagery make it special to your wedding day to remember.
4. FLOWERS: Asking the florist for loose flowers when she drops off the bouquets!! For lay flat images, loose flowers really help pull in all the wedding colors throughout the day. I’m not in direct communicate with the florist often, until during or after the wedding, so if you could make a note to ask her for some extra (1-5 flowers) and extra foliage left over from your florals it would add to the details.
5. TIME: Add time in for these shots in your timeline. I usually spend 1 hour on wedding detail shots the morning of. For most photographers these detail shots happen during getting ready shots in the morning. The rest of the day is CRAZY- so this is the best time. They are beautiful images to create but take time because most items are so small and must be placed correctly.
EXTRAS: Here are extra little things on etsy that help a wedding details page I’ve seen brides include in their details box that helps me:
